Greetings from Malaysia! My name is En Qi (pronounced as ‘En-Chee’) or you can call me Angie.

Born and raised in Malaysia since 1st of Sept, 1998. My alma mater are SJK(C) Sungai Buloh, SMK Bukit Rahman Putra, Palo Verde High School and Kolej Tingkatan Enam Desa Mahkota.

Back in 2016, I was awarded Kennedy-Lugar Youth, Exchange and Study (YES) scholarship. It was a dream-come-true. I flew all the way to the United States of America and lived my High School Musical dream as a foreign exchange student. (read more at My Yes Journey) 6 months later, I came back to my home country and continued my study in Form 6.

I hated Form 6. Not because it was tough, but the reverse culture shock was overwhelming. I felt trapped in a place where I don’t belong.

And I found myself in dancing. I’ve been taking dance lessons for years, and it is one of my way out. I don’t plan on being a professional dancer, but I still love to groove to music wherever I go.

In April 2018, I decided to travel alone to Italy for three months. It was a long, stressful but enriching adventure. I had a couple of moments where I really wanted to head back home. However, the positive experiences definitely outweighed the negative ones. I ended up having one of the best moments in my life there.

Later that year in August, I started my English degree in Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang. I am also doing a minor in French and learning Spanish.

In January 2020, I was offered ERASMUS+ International Credit Mobility grant to study in University of Glasgow, United Kingdom for 6 months. Well, apparently, it was shortened to 2 months (Thanks Corona), but it is still very much memorable.

My journey doesn’t stop here. I still dream about backpacking around the world. I love meeting new people, learning new languages and understanding different cultures. As my favorite quote says, traveling is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.

Wildfire (n.) /ˈwʌɪl(d)fʌɪə/ – a fire that is burning strongly and out of control on an area of grass or bushes in the countryside.

I started out from nowhere. Having a fire ignited in my soul, I know I am unstoppable – just like a wildfire.

Carpe diem, carpe noctem!
